While it is not a large city, Tacoma has a long history in several different sports leagues. While continued efforts at bringing hockey to the city have met with poor results and bankruptcy lawyers; California based professional sports teams have had luck recruiting from the other sports pools in the area. These include baseball's Rainiers, the affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, and soccer's Tide.

With several men's hockey camps popular in Tacoma every year, the future of the coolest sport on ice is still hopeful. However, for now sports fans in the city seem satisfied with basketball, soccer, and baseball as well as the range of high school sports.

Outdoor recreation

One of the great things about living anywhere in the Pacific Northwest is that no matter what outdoor activities you like to pursue, there is a venue for it not far away. In Tacoma, that means skiing and snowboarding at Mount Rainier, kayaking and boating on the Pacific Ocean, and hiking or mountain biking thought the different terrains and trails that run throughout the city and surrounding area.

Those who love gardening as a hobby also enjoy the opportunities presented in Tacoma. Mild temperature and an abundance of greenhouse suppliers mean the growing season can run year long in the city!

Out on the Town

Night or day, there are several popular stops the city of Tacoma. The wide variety of quality restaurants in the downtown core don't need food PR agencies to tout their quality, as word of mouth has been sufficient to keep them afloat for decades. The downtown strip is popular with older adults and students alike all week long.

Those looking for cultural attractions may be interested in places such as the Museum of Glass and the Tacoma Art Museum. The city also hosts several operatic productions throughout the year thanks to the Tacoma Opera company.
