Visiting our fair city on business? Taking an adventure trip? You're bound to need some time off from seminars on online post card printing or from trekking the Cascade Mountains. You'll need time to sit back, relax, and spend your money. After all, what's a trip without some souvenirs to remember it by? We can help you find the best places in Tacoma to shop. All you have to do is read this short guide and you'll be on your way to retail heaven!

Downtown/Museum District

If you've got meetings downtown, you can visit the unique shops in this district on your coffee breaks. Just follow the business people with their Blackberry leather cases into the trendy art galleries and upscale cafes for a painting to remember Tacoma by or a delicious coffee and scone. You'll find art, clothes, souvenirs, books, and other retailers, most of whom are independent rather than franchises. There are even some, like BK & Co., which combine genres: in this case, art and clothes.

Freighthouse Square

Constructed in 1909 as a rail fright terminal, the Freighthouse Square Mall combines modern retail with the city's industrial history. It's convenient to the public transit hub, so put on your new Sophia Tolli dress and come out to eat at one of the international restaurants or browse the specialty shops. Where else in Tacoma will find antiques, jewelry, clothes, Native artwork, local crafts, and mythical memorabilia all in one place? Nowhere!

Super Mall

Located in the nearby suburb of Auburn, the Super Mall is the premiere destination for bargain hunters in the entire Pacific Northwest. Need a great deal on bathroom vanities? Baby clothes? Curtains? Shoes? No problem! There are over 130 outlet stores packed to the rafters with brand name products for sale at discount prices. Getting there's a longer trip than going to Freighthouse or Downtown, but it's worth it when you see the savings.

Business Districts

Downtown Tacoma isn't the only neighborhood where you can find great shopping. In fact, many of Tacoma's neighborhoods have their own unique business districts with small specialty stores you won't want to miss. Neighborhood stores are where you'll find flavored popcorn, new hip hop music, doggy sweaters, and hand crafted beads. You'll find these little districts in Dome, Fern Hill, Lincoln, McKinley Hill, Oakland, Old Town, Portland Avenue, Proctor, Ruston/Point Defiance, Sixth Avenue, South Tacoma, Stadium, Tacoma Narrows, and Upper Tacoma.
