Many people want to make the most of their backyard spaces today and are building patios and decks that are like an expansion of the indoor rooms of their home. If you're thinking of doing this to the exterior part of your Mississauga real estate than you might want to know how far you can go in terms of your property lines. Or, you could have an issue with a neighbor and think that they are using land that is rightfully yours. Here are some tips for finding out exactly where your property ends and the next begins.
When the developers of the property started to make your house plans they likely had a survey done of the land. If you can get a hold of the home purchase records it should include a map that shows you the property lines. You can also go to your city or county's property office and see if they have a copy of the survey map on file. This will show you where your home is in relation to others and will be a good start for figuring out where the exact lines might be.
By looking just at this map you might have a little trouble figuring out exactly which trees or bushes are on one property or another. This is when you might want to try to get a hold of a metal detector instead. Some of the original survey posts might still be in place in the ground around your home. If you're living in newer Brownsville real estate listings than you might even still be able to see some of them in the ground. The top of the posts are meant to be at about ground level.
If you haven't yet figured out where to draw the lines of your property than you can hire a surveyor to come out and find the lines. If you're planning to add your home to Toronto real estate Remax than you might be able to save some money if your neighbors are willing to chip in for this service as well. Otherwise, it will cost you a few hundred dollars to have this survey done.
Those that are not planning on adding their home to homes for sale in Brampton and just want to build a garden or put up a fence should talk to their neighbors. They might have more information on the subject and you could come to an agreement over your property lines. But you should make sure that you put any changes in writing.
